Early mist and fog, then fine… again

We’re stuck in a pattern of fine days and cool nights. Down to 3.4C at Amberley, 7.5C at Archerfield and 10.1C in the CBD. I decided to head out early for some sunrise pics just in case there was a decent fog. There wasn’t, but I still managed some okay pics… click on the image [...]

Continuing fine with cold mornings

The run of fine days after cold mornings continue… This morning was one of the coldest, with temps down to 0.6C at Amberley, -4C at Stanthorpe, -3C at Applethorpe and a modest 3.8C at my place in SW Brisbane. Just over the border, Tenterfield was down to -6C, as was Armidale. Brisbane City was 9.9C!

Dry days cool mornings

The minimum in Amberley (Ipswich) was 1.6C; Archerfield was 5.7C and Brisbane CBD 8.4C. Oakey, Warwick and Stanthorpe went down to -2C. While these seem cold, we haven’t had any real cold outbreaks. Usually a day or so after these move through, the winds die off and the temps plummet. Last June this happened on [...]

Back to dry wx

It is now a classic Winter’s day in Brisbane. Blue skies, no clouds and low humdity. The minimum (at the ‘hot’ Brisbane site in the city) was 10.0C while the airport got down to 6.9C. Amberley was 2.4C with some light frost. A similar temp is expected there tomorrow morning though might be closer to [...]

June thunderstorms!

On Thursday generally isolated showers and thunderstorms developed over inland areas of southern and eastern Qld and much of NSW as an upper low and trough moved through the area. The best activity occurred west of the SE Coast district, but some weak storms moved through towns like Crows Nest, Warwick and Stanthorpe. In the [...]

Cloudy, with showery periods

After a nice start to the day with widespread valley mist (looked great but couldn’t stop to take pics), cloud moved over and much of SE Qld became fully overcast. Some surpisingly prolonged showers developed, and these didn’t just hug the coast like the bureau expected. Most Brisbane suburbs received a welcome 5-12mm. The showers [...]
